Walk in the Park

Colonial Park in New Jersey

The best things in life are nearest:  Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you.  Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.

I agree with this statement. Often, I wonder if I’m missing out by not going on a field trip or camping adventure to Yosemite Park or to Disneyland. But then I think, hey, I bet the wildflowers ’round here have new ones in bloom, which I haven’t yet taken pictures of. There’s sure always new folks to meet and new nature scenes to take pics of all around, and close by. Thanks for sharing this, Ruth! p.s. I’ve always liked Robert Louis Stevenson’s name, cuz it sounds so fancy-shmancy. :oD

Hi sf! I love this quote too. It was a reminder to myself that you can do all those mundane tasks you have to do and consider them to be something more: creating a home filled with warmth and extending hospitality to people. Like you do in the virtual world! You’re always out there promoting me and sharing the positive vibes! Such a sweet soul, you are. PS, it does sound hoity-toity, but I’ll bet his pals called Mr. Stevenson “Bobby Lou!” 🙂
