Websites for Writers

Literary Hub is a compendium of interesting books and writing tips that I like to scroll through as I have my morning coffee.

I liked hearing about what Arundhati Roy has been up to lately – her book, The God of Small Things, written in 1997, was a revelation. Now, twenty years later, she’s written a follow-up called The Ministry of Utmost Happiness.  Nice to have her back!

Roy’s book reminds me of the Indian arranged marriages written in detail by a fellow blogger I like to visit also:

Arranged marriages – fascinating subject to me. It just sounds like something from another century, you know? I can’t believe women put up with it. Mothers encourage daughters to go through with it? Mind-boggling.

I’ve never heard of her. Guess I’ll have to check into her work!

Oh, definitely read “the God of Small Things,” Lady Calen. It’s just beautifully written. The only thing to be aware of is that there’s a couple of really disturbing scenes that almost (but not quite) ruined it for me. But it’s worth the read!
